About Us

The 4th Angle comes about as one of the main objectives of R.E.A.L.I.S.E.,
(Real Employment And Livelihoods In Social Enterprise). Realise was set up to develop opportunities for disabled people to find real work in real work places and to encourage social enterprise.

One of the aims of Realise was to establish an ‘umbrella’ organisation which would support and mentor developing and new Social Enterprises/Firms, who would then be better equipped to provide disabled people and those with other barriers to employment,  with quality employment and training services and help to create jobs for them. As Realise also aims to utilise the Social Enterprise and Social Firms structure as the basis of their role it made a great deal of sense to continue with this when looking at the purpose of 4th Angle.

Social Enterprises are businesses that trade in the market with a social purpose. They use business tools and techniques to achieve social aims.

Social Firms are businesses which earn 50% or more of their income through trade activity. Disabled people make up at least 25% but not much more than 50% of a Social Firms paid workforce.

The role of 4th Angle is to develop the work of Realise and raise the profile and potential of Social Enterprise in Suffolk and the Eastern Region, in order that both businesses and the communities can become more aware of Social Enterprises in their area and therefore make better use of the services and products provided by them.

This, in turn, should provide more opportunity for those with disabilities to be integrated into the workforce of the enterprises and into the community.
